JDW is the registrar, so presumably they have been mailed. Can you tell us when (so we know when to look in the mail?)

One is the original 1988 1:15000 Dunlavey, Dominie, Weyman Hickory Run map. The other is a 2005 1:5000 Alexei Zuev update of a small section (roughly 2/3 km^2) near the middle of the original map called Camp Daddy Allen. There are no previews of South Mountain included.

South Mountain is a brand new map for everyone.

Any hints on which PA map is close to the terrain type of South Mt.?

Its probably best if that information is disclosed uniformly, rather than to those competitors who happen to read AP. There are alot of course setters notes/controllers notes on the web site now, that weren't there a few days ago. I hope they are useful.

There was also an article in a recent ONA describing the terrain and, if I recall correctly, mention was made of relevant existing maps.

Jeff,
Think of the South Florida maps, crossed with the high alpine Swiss maps... yeah... that's it... ;)

From the ONA article, and previously on the event web site, although I can't find it now-

MT PENN is relevant for Monday's Long South Mtn event, although the South Mtn terrain has more nice areas.

This is not new, nor AP-exclusive information.
