I think the guys stretched the truth a bit when he said he was from CNN, but I did find the news report. Here it is:

Don't shot me, remember he's the one who put together the report, not me... :)

Umm...yeah not CNN. Those hosts, Benny and that other dude...almost spat out my coffee in laughter. Definitely not Wolf. I like how Tim did all the talking, Liza the sidekick looking pretty although you did manage a "yup". Truly famous on Local Edition;)

Apparently my words weren't nearly eloquent enough to include them in the interview....but did you see my amazing skill in punching the control?? phew!

I'm impressed with the control punching, silky smooth. It was very Bobkitten oriented as well. Tim you didn't tell me you were on an all girls team...that explains the earrings ;)

Well is certainly looks like we did a lot of standing around looking at the map - oh that's right we were! Stupid last control.

First, we wanted to thank everybody who was at the race -- letting a camera run after them through the woods, and taking the time to sit down and answer a few questions post-race.

Yes, we do air on CNN. Local Edition covers Northern Michigan events and is broadcast on CNN Headline News on cable in that area. You can see the schedule here:
http://www.local-edition.com/content/?page_id=249

So, a few thousand people watching Headline News see the newscast once an hour.

We couldn't get both of you on the interview or cover every part of the race due to time constraints.

No, the production value may not be up to the lofty standard you were apparently expecting, but neither do we have a massive budget. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but no other news even covered the event.

Our goal is to get more people interested in events they wouldn't have otherwise known about. That's the response we've gotten - people saw the piece on the race and said "that looks like fun!"

And more exposure is always better for adventure racing, wouldn't you agree?

Benjamin, sorry I never meant to offend. Trust me I'm still proud of my 15s of fame, my whole family has already seen this. However, I think you can imagine when I heard "CNN" what the expectation might have been in my head and that it didn't totally match up with what I saw. I think it was more the surprise from that which threw me for a loop.

This was a fun clip that shared adventure racing with the general public. We rarely see our sport in the news because - amongst other things - it's so difficult to convey all its different aspects. It's great that a news organization came out to cover the event, and it was nice to see them filming in places other than transition areas. TA-based video clips are all too common and can get boring, but they *are* easier to do.

The only unfortunate thing about this clip is that Tiny was featured instead of the lovely and articulate Slice. ;-)

I'm just sorry Benjamin had to catch us standing around so much since we were attacking from the wrong point. OOps but hey I guess that's part of AR too isn't it. Luckily he wasn't on the first trek with us when I was swearing like a sailor - not appropriate for the local news!
