Aren't you going to write about how you valiantly outkicked Hilly? You must have thrown some sharp elbows or else she decided to take it easy on an old goat ;)

After analyzing results I came to conclusion that Eddie and me got short handed at that race - my map one had absolutely unreadable contour lines on the run - too light and too thin - I had to slow down a lot to comprehend what was printed - I saw Eddie doing the same during part 1 - part 2 was much better - and it shows in results.

As far as Sam and Hill - they had home court advantage and their youth and beauty on their side - The Old Goat was lucky to have a chance to run in their company. Sam outsmarted me on the last long leg, and I had no chance to gain back when it went into a foot race down to finish - she was flying. Hill made a mistake on that long leg and was very disappointed after the race about it - she had a clear lead before that.

Old goats may not be the most beautiful, but they are craftier than many young and beautiful girls!

Had to give the girls some advantage, so I printed the maps at 1:15000 with light contours. Apparently Joe still has good eyes, or he doesn't read contours....

I could not see a contour until number 10. even then I had to be standing still holding the map at arms length.

And that's the rub--obviously not bothering with the contours was a great tactic. Food for thought for the rest of us.
