(1) The announcement --

"Unofficial" US Sprint O Championships to be held Telemark, WI Oct 16th

MNOC and the US team are pleased to announce that the US team will be hosting a sprint event as a fund raiser on Oct 16th from 2 pm - 4 pm at Telemark Resort, Cable, WI as an optional bonus to the 2 day US Individual Championships (classic distance).

Course length will be approximately 1.5km in a sprint format. Brian May will be setting; Peter Gagarin is the meet director and vetter. There will be regular USOF age categories; all ages and abilities are welcome to this event which will be in the open area and trails close to the Telemark Resort. Donations of $5 per person are suggested with all benefits going to fund the US team. To take part in the event just head on over with your donation to the sprint O registration/start table located within yards of the A-meet day 1 finish.

(2) A couple of ideas --

1. Perhaps we can get Brian to run it too, and anyone who can beat his time gets special bragging rights.

2. I'd like to issue results in two ways: (A) Gross -- just your actual time. (B) Net -- your gross time with an adjustment (subtraction of time) based on your age/sex group. Here my thought is that the adjustment is 10% for each point you have in the systems we use for the Relay champs. So an F21 would get a 20% reduction (2 points x 10%), an M60 would get 30%. I'm curious to see who would end up the quickest.

(3) I could use a little help that afternoon -- registrars, timers, hecklers, whatever ....

1. Thanks to Valerie we are going to have e-punching for the (unofficial) Sprint Champs!

2. And Brian will run the course first to set the time to beat.

Peter

PS. Getting your entry in for the Champs before Sept. 1 will save you a few bucks.
