Here are a few shots from the Highlander Sprints on Satruday Oct 9. There are also some shots taken at Control Point 8 in the Balance Bar 24-hour race, which was the transition between a MTB leg and kayaking. You'll see quite a few familiar faces here. If I remember correctly this was called Greenwood Lake, which is west of Ringwood SP where the start/finish and orienteering sections were. As usual, some good, some bad. The medium-res shots are posted today too. Let me know if you want any of these at full-res.

I have a few shots from the Hudson Highlander IX taken on Sunday Oct 10. I think Greg B took quite a few more.

Nice to see orienteers navigating their teams to good results in the Balance Bar series. Congrats to Joe B and Timex in 6th, Vytenis and Revo in 7th, Eric Bone and EMS in 8th, Erin O. and Vegan in 11th. My team, EAS/Hammer, had hoped to do this race but we were all at Robyn's (the female on our team) wedding in Muskoka. Look out for EAS/Hammer at Balance Bar LA! ;-)

Simon River Sports, which I believe is Canada's top AR team and is ranked 8th in NA according to ASM, is led by orienteer Benoit Letourneau. Time for somebody to do an article for Adventure Sports Magazine on these teams/people! By the way, the results for the BB NY race lists Eric Bone as a 74 year old male. Must be that Seattle coffee that makes him look so young!

Yeah, I missed Vytenis' team. Apparently they came through with a group of teams just after Joe's and I didn't recognize him. Ellen had to point out Eric to me. I had just taken a picture of him on the bike and still didn't realize it was him!

If you want to see more photos of the Balance Bar NYC 24-hour race, go to www.picquest.com. Just plug in the bib number and you can see what was going on in the various stages: mtn bike, paddle, hike-a-bike, and trek, as well as shots from the prologue, held on Friday (rappel from the Intrepid, cargo net climb). Only 22 teams out of 48 finished the whole race.

Vytenis' team (Revo): bib #3 (finished 7th elite)
Eric's team (EMS): #9 (8th place elite)
Joe's team (Timex): #12 (6th elite)
Erin's team (Vegan): #13 (11th elite)
Bernie's team (Murphy's Law I): #37 (2nd men's)
Ken's team (Murphy's Law II): #38 (3rd men's)

Ed and I watched the race from start to finish because my sister Jennifer is on Team EMS. Great weather, great race.
