HI MJ - I'm involved with Duke of Ed in Newcastle. Is your DOE in your log Duke of Ed? If so is your MTBO your Phys REC? Some of our kids have done cycling as their Expedition, but curiously they have now switched to canoeing and have also gone to white water paddling? Doing your Bronze or Silver??

I am completing my bronze duke of ed. this year and hopefully continuing on to silver next year. This year our school is logging our DoE online but I have not yet logged anything, instead I have been keeping track on a piece of paper. For my physical rec. I have chosen orienteering and my expedition activity is MTB (although one of the options was canoeing, but I really didn't want to get wet during the middle of winter). Our other expedition options included horse riding, trekking and x-country skiing.

That is a serious variety of expedition options - you are really lucky. Not many choosing to do the online logging around Newcastle, but it will eventually be taken up and a good option. I think there will still need to be some substantiation apart from logging on for a while, though. Getting wet in winter? - anyone could do without that! Good luck with DoE and enjoy it. Hope you go all through with it - it is a great thing to have completed, no matter what level to finish at.. and remember you actually have until 25 to complete up to Gold.

Yes, it seems like a long time to have to complete it...One of the teachers at my school went on one of the expedition groups that the school held so that she could complete her gold DoE.
