Very memorable. I also recall the missing aid station. Somewhere around 35 I was running well and came into an aid station just as you were leaving, which got me pretty excited about catching up and running along with you, so I rushed the aid station a bit and hustled off, noticing that it was getting pretty hot, but confident I could make it to the aid station at 40 miles, pushing myself a little. Never a good idea to push during an ultra, is it? Anyway, 40 miles came and went without an aid station and I crashed badly. In particular my quads cramped up, and I didn't run much after that at all, although I did struggle in to the finish. Was Barry Hawley involved with the race? I seem to remember him being there, but maybe he wasn't the director? I also seem to remember going to another race he put on that was also missing an aid station, but I don't remember now where that one was. Glad you have such good records and/or recollections, although I wouldn't forget that fine breakfast.
