We are fast approaching the 10 year anniversary of the first AP log entry.

How shall we celebrate?
--Top Ten Lists of favorite log entries? or discussion comments? or maps?
--Everyone log 10 minutes of training on Feb 19th?
--Everyone donate $10 (or Euro or whatever) to AP?
--Everyone send Ken a Thank You email?
--other ideas?

We certainly must recognize this great website, which has been so important to us all. And to thank Ken for his foresight (even pre-dating Facebook) and continuing innovation.

All of the above? ;-)

Not sure if Ken wants that many emails in one day, though...

Log comments, on the other hand...

Ken, what date would you consider is the true "birthday" of AP?

asdf? From the associated e-mail, it appears that Ken (using this qwerty pseudonym) is both the first and the second member of AP, thereby capturing two gold medals.

Unless I calculated incorrectly, I think Ken will have been a member of AP for ten years on 19 January 2010.

Good question. I have always thought of it as "sometime in January", but while my account was created on Jan 22 and I was logging training in February, the next real person was not until Boris on March 9. April 3rd was really the launch date, when I sent an email out for split posting after the OCIN event.

Something weird has happened to Nancy's account. She was one of the early ones to sign up, but her seniority rank is now zero. Maybe she lost interest and nuked it somehow. I wondered if it was a matter of inactivity, but that doesn't seem to have affected asdf. Oh, except asdf seems to have vanished from the seniority list since this morning.

Yeah, it's inactivity, more than 6 months since last login. same for asdf (a test account), which I forced back into inactivity.

Details aside (for the moment), congratulations and thank you, Ken!

Was stymied by "asdf" until I looked at the keyboard...indeed missed the obvious....ditto for qwerty. Might "riuriju" (cat on keyboard, abb.) serve for "save as draft" email, safe from "send" until ready. Elementary, my dear Watson.

'All things great and small' might very well begin with such 'quixotic' impulse: asdf, a second on the keyboard, 10 years of benefit to the orienteering community.

Kudos to Ken (and credit to Mary for pointing this out). Blow out the candles, someone will make the cake.

So, based on Ken's recollection of events, I suggest we celebrate three times, in three different ways, on Jan 22, Feb 19th and April 3rd. I'll start a new thread for the Jan 22nd "celebration".
