Hi,

I am curious if anyone has a link to the winners' routes from the long distance from WOC 1999 in Scotland. Thanks!

Boris, they were around when we ran the PT in 2006 - I've texted Brooner and will see if I can come up with them.

Why are you interested?

Okay, found it on nopesport! Scroll through this topic and there's a PDF uploaded by Brooner:

Thanks Becks! I found a huge stack of maps I had from before I moved to Sweden, and the WOC '99 classic was in the stack, so Kat and I started looking at route choices, and I wanted to see what the winners did.

It was a truly epic course that one. The forest is still beautiful but a little rougher - worth a run if you're ever in the area!

I ran the Scottish 6-day in '99 and struggled mightily on the days that were on the WOC maps, so I remember it quite well. Would love to have a go at it if I ever get that far north.

There is something super about running the real WOC course, but I'm not convinced this one is especially good. The first section has a lot of long sections following line features: I thought I was being mince going that way, but if its good enough for Valstad... Then I didn't find the middle bit as tricky as either the 6-day course or brooners (?) PT offering.

OK, so I only ever ran one other (Surebridge), which surely was the best course I ever ran in Harriman.

When I ran it at PT the first part was already getting a bit too shitty. And last I heard that part of the forest had been epically felled.
