Mike is greatly deserving of the Silva award. Mike has done a ton for United States Orienteering and OCIN in particular. He is a great friend, mentor and constant sales person and motivator for youth orienteering and for the life benefits and joy of orienteering for all.

Here's a typical example of Mike's dedication to orienteering:
He's not just "attending" the North American Orienteering Festival, he's there in at least 2 different advisory capacities. Plus, he has a Junior in tow for the better part of the festivities, giving her an opportunity she wouldn't otherwise have had. Plus, Mike and others are making an effort to offer some junior activities after the originally scheduled US junior training camp didn't come together as planned.
Thus, it bears repeating: that's not extraordinary of Mike, that's typical of Mike.
