I would also avoid stretching for a while, at least in my case, it only seems to hurt more.

I agree with Z. Stretching causes more damage and interestingly enough is the opposite of compression. Use a large ace bandaid to wrap it. Get the ones that are self sticking. Dont warp too tight. It should be at a compression level where you can sleep the whole night with it on. Dont make it too light either! Makes a big difference by morning.

I have a thin neoprene one that works really well. something like this :

They do tend to slide down. the ones lined with fabric dont slide down as much. You might find one at Models or even the local CVS.

you are lucky. My hamstring acts up after some long rides. it feels really weak. I wore a hamstring brace on my last ride and it helped a lot. Felt good despite mega hills.
