We are trying to decide on dates for the 2011 training camp. The two options are:
Feb 11-13
Feb 18-20
Are there any conflicting races? Any opinions?

Hammer:
Both weekends align with most Ontario Uni. reading weeks so a great time of year.

Feb 19-20 is the Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Snowshoe Raid in Barrie. Not sure how many people would want to do both though. half dozen or so???

Great to see this sprint camp continuing.

Carleton's reading week is the last week in February so only the 19-20 weekend aligns with it. That said I'm not sure I'll be going anyway.

Feb 18-20 is a holiday weekend in the US and a few extra folks might decide to attend then.

Haha, this just came up in our household two days ago!

G: Hey, we got a wedding save-the-date in the mail. I'd like to go.
P: Hmmm, it's Feb 19th. I hope the sprint camp doesn't pick that weekend.
G: Well, I want to go to the wedding.
P: I've never met them, I am going sprinting.
G: Oh. (Sad face.)
P: Hopefully they'll pick the weekend ahead so we can do both.

I vote for Sprint Camp on Feb 11-13 for personal reasons. ;-)

On a more serious note...

Here in Seattle, our WIOL/Winter Series Champs race will be on February 19th, so it would be a conflict for anyone coming up from here (this is probably our biggest single local event of the year, since it's the only one that gets live announcing and awards).

Looks like we've avoided conflict in most years
2006: Winter Champs Feb 18, Sprint Camp Feb 24-26
2007: Winter Champs Feb 17, Sprint Camp Feb 16-18
2008: Winter Champs Feb 23, Sprint Camp Feb 15-17
2009: Winter Champs Feb 21 (then postponed to Mar 14), Sprint Camp Feb 13-15
2010: Winter Champs Feb 20, Sprint Camp Mar 5-7

I vote for 18-20 for the holiday weekend, and I would very likely attend.

[Edit: Wait, I take back my vote. I may not be able to attend that weekend. Earlier weekend!]

[Edit again: Now I may not be able to make the earlier weekend either, so just pretend I never offered any suggestions.]

Sorry you asked?

Will there be Arizona training or any southern US events next Feb? Sometimes a southern US club schedules an event for that holiday weekend. Anyone know of any rumours? Otherwise, Vancouver sounds fun!

Cristina:
If there is any specific winter training camp in AZ it will not conflict with the sprint camp. I haven't heard of any major events, and we will not be hosting an A-meet next year.

see less conflicts with Feb. 11-13

hi! just wondering when will the dates for the 2011 training camp be set. I'll need to purchase airline tickets (roundtrip from Hong Kong) soon in order to get in on cheaper fares.

Wow, the Sprint Camp is getting more and more global. Love it!

Well, since this thread is revived, I thought I'd also throw my support behind Feb. 11-13. The Gatineau Loppet is Feb 18-20, so if I'm in the country I'd like to do both sprint camp and race two 50k's the next weekend. Should be an interesting study in contrasts.

Chopper prefers the first weekend. It's spot on mate.
