I thought it would be useful to start a thread re plans for any common events this summer so people might coordinate if it suits - or at least throw out ideas.

I am going to the Scottish 6 day (7/31-8/6) (have entered but no flight arrangement). Need to be in Oban area 7/30, meet starts 7/31. I have a B&B place for Beth & myself the first 4 nights. Then thinking about camping 2 nights (hopefully dry weather!). No car arrangements yet but am open to suggestions.

I'm thinking of going to Sweden for the O-ringen (7/24-29 - competiton dates, starts a day or 2 earlier). Have not yet entered. Would depart 7/20 Manchester or Boston & would camp or co-rent somewhere near the meet site. Have no plans to rent a car. Not sure what outside of meet, if anything, I would do. Would fly to Glasgow after the meet (eg, 7/29, 30?) & then drive to Oban - all of which seems tight timing.

Hope that starts an exchange of ideas/plans.

"Hopefully dry weather."

Hee hee.

The Scottish organisers were thinking about common bussing to events but I'm not sure what was eventually decided. Might be worth sending an e mail to them. There's always people willing to car share though.

Camping was OK in 2005 - some rain but a positive experience. Event (Deeside) was more to the east, however, where it's generally drier I believe. Didn't camp at Perth '09 but think it was ok. A little camping can't hurt!

Yup, West coast is particularly renowned for being soggy. The last time I camped that was in August was a music festival that turned into a quagmire. You might be lucky though! Deeside and Aviemore are generally drier. In a big generalisation kind of way.

'07 was a very pleasant drenching as we camped in the muddy field. Take a good tent.
