after responding to Ken's message re: Jukola, I took a look at the website:

http://www.jukola2003.net/eng/index.htm

There is an interview (I think) with the landowner, Matti Reponen. That's a common name in my families lineage, perhaps a direct relative (I'm going to check with my mom...)

Maybe that makes me a crazy nordic dude wanna be - with connections!!

June 14-15? Put me on the list. (I'm not committing to this, but I'm strogly interested.) Haven't orienteered in Finland before, and Jukola would be a fine way to start. I'm 1/4 Swedish, so I guess I'm another crazy Nordic dude.

Does Jukola use SI or EMIT?

it has been EMIT in the past

Put me on the same list as JJ. I'm interested, but not committing. I've done four Jukola's -- great fun each time. I'd love to run another.

I'm in the I'd like to but can't commit boat also. (Assuming I could avoid running at night :-))

That makes about a dozen people, plus there is some interest for a BAOC team—just so that you know. BAOC finished the 1997 Jukola.

I will definitely be there. I ran in this past Jukola in Lahti for a club from Oslo since I didn't make the team for my Norwegian club. This year I will most likely run for my Norwegian club unless of course there is a US Team! Let me know.

I'm in, work permitting. Unfortunately, that's a big if.

I have brazenly assumed the responsibilities of the trip coordinator. Those of you who have expressed interest but have not been contacted by me should do so. My trip schedule (subject to changes, but I do have a ticket already!) is:

SJCMOW 20MAY03
LEDBOI 27JUN03

We will discuss our organization, i.e. who will bear responsibilities for leg assignment, training, and other stuff, on a private mail list or a public discussion group, in the near future. Contact me to be included.

I am interested, but have to check my schedule as it develops.
