Results/splits for Batona Day 2 are
available on Winsplits. They'll eventually make their way to the DVOA website along with the scoring results for Red and Blue and the sprint results.
wow you guys are really fast!!!!
And the meet was GREAT, exactly what we've come to expect from DVOA. Thanks to everyone involved.
May I add to the compliments...
The organization was the usual DVOA machine, oiled well. The terrain, while uncommon for the States (reminded me of Atlantic-coast Europe), was perfectly fit for the two competition formats. The two days' courses were textbook examples of Middle and Long. And the maps were perfect!
For those of you who like to view the WinSplits by course, I have posted them that way as well.
Another thanks to DVOA for a fine meet. Everything (from my perspective) seemed to go down oh so smoothly. They even held off the rain! And I only saw one NJ Devil.
I thoroughly enjoyed my courses both days. And running them on such great maps was such a pleasure. Both maps were good but due to prior experience with Pakim, I was especially impressed with the accuracy and detail of that map. I'd only run Orange competitively at Pakim but last year Bob and I ran an event there and I tried to do the Green course before the event and had a frustrating time trying to locate and relocate on that map. On Sunday, after just a couple of legs, I had developed complete confidence that what I saw on the map I'd see in the terrain and vice versa. At one point, I was so startled to see that a small detail in the terrain was actually on the map, I just stopped in my tracks to admire it! Running great courses on accurate maps - orienteering just doesn't get any more enjoyable.
And I need to add--refreshing to run on offset printed maps that you can actually read. There are many pretenders but at the end of the day, there is no comparison to this "old-school" approach.
RouteGadget is available on the DVOA site.
