Hi Charlie--thanks for coming by after the finish and saying hello. I haven't been O'ing that long, so there plenty of people to yet meet. As an "experiment", I had resolved to do my own navigation instead of sticking with a pack, which is how I managed to get ahead sometimes (when I managed a clever route choice) and fall back other times (when I had to be cautious). I saw Bernie a lot, but wasn't aware you were that close behind much of the time after I broke off the path early to #21.

"Stately pace" or not, looks like your various injuries didn't stop you from enjoying the camaraderie of the group and completing a very long race with few errors. Well done! Those Harriman maps are always a navigational challenge to me. Glad you didn't fall on that hand.

Fred you're doing pretty well if you can keep up with Sharon through a race like that!

Fred did very well! I saw him leave the path going to 21 while I was dithering with Bernie, Alec, Craig and Bob. I was at a low energy point and not thinking much right then except trying to hang on. I've had an early look at the splits and it looks like Fred opened up 7 or 8 minutes on us by plunging right in there. Somehow I regrouped after 21 and started navigating and picking up the pace.
