Me too. The majority were using the map to find the possible flag locations. Good groups tonight.

How does the map factor into Capture the Flag? Sounds like an interesting concept.

Everybody gets a map. The boundary is marked on it and in each team's area we have 4-6 controls marked. We place a flag at one of those circles for each team. Kids then use the map to figure out where they are defending and where to attack. I think they did well. Instead of a jail kids run a lap of a penalty loop. Kids caught walking or standing still have to do a 1 minute plank.

They had a great time

I love this setup. It sounds great. Will definitely keep it in mind for junior (or senior) fun training sessions.

What I really liked is that when you're chasing someone (or being chased), you get the idea of what it's like to run at top speed through the forest.
Seeing the kids look ahead and picking the fastest line, even if the fastest route involved some stream running, was really cool.

Yeah I wish I had a camera when one of the Cyr girls got the flag and was being chased down by about 3-4 people. She was really moving and there was 'no fear' about the obstacles in the way. I think Tarno's forest intervals sessions really develops their forest running strength.

I heard Madeline can even run pretty fast while still texting

Madeline was MVP of the blue group last night - run, text *and* navigate whilst chillin' to some tunes! Just don't tell anyone, I don't think she likes people to know she can run fast if she wants too!

I watched her navigating her way along the creek and then she found the flag and was surprised nobody else was around. She can read the map and she can run fast thats for sure.
