My Foretrex 301 or 401 or whatever just crapped out.
Would like something that's easy to move with (like, running) but also keep a pretty accurate track (the Garmin I had was not too accurate, even on the highest resolution setting.)
Any recommendations?
I'm happy with my Garmin Forerunner 310XT. I've done 40 km bike rides where my bike computer differs from the Garmin by only 100 m. It probably has something to do with where I live since some others seem to have more trouble with Forerunner accuracy.
Did you set your bike computer to line up with the Garmin though like I did?
It's hard to go wrong with a
Garmin Forerunner 305 (click to sort by total price). I personally would not buy a refurbished one unless it was dirt cheap.
The 305 is awesome. I suspect that your "Foretrex 301 or 401 or whatever" seems inaccurate sometimes because you are often working in steep terrain. Just a guess.
tRicky, no I didn't. The measurements are totally independent which is why it's so cool that they often come out really close.
I had the 305 before and got good tracks with it most of the time too. The main reasons I upgraded were a longer battery life (rated 20 vs. 10 hrs) and better waterproofing.
how do you definitively work out the accuracy of your bike computer? I'm pretty sure mine is out by about 3% but I can't be bothered fiddling with the settings to get it any closer.
I entered the size of my wheel in the bike computer settings and when it turned out to match the Forerunner so well, I decided not to question the accuracy of either device. :)
thanks all... picked up a 310 XT
