Would there be interest in orienteering in Barbados in Jan / Feb 2013? Initial concept would be a series of sprints and possibly a longer middle / long event over 2 - 3 days. Take a look at Google Earth and you can see some of the potential. What type of things would make this attractive? Think accommodation, number and type of events other activities, training, cost? I'll be discussing this with the Barbados Association over the next couple of weeks and we'd appreciate some input & feedback. The sprint events would be part of the NA Sprint series.

We have a lot of interest in helping something like this come together, but we don't know anyone in Barbados! Just looking at Google Earth, it seems that an urban/rural navigation challenge like the Night & Day or Street Scramble would also be a great way for participants to explore the country. And, 2014 would work better for us than 2013; we're planning on exploring locations somewhat as exotic, but within continental North America, in 2013.

Vlad, it would be great to have you on the mike, in Barbados. All volunteers greatly appreciated. We're doing a mapping recon tour tomorrow to help get things rolling. I agree the area is perfect for an urban / rural style event.

Let us know the dates—the Street Scramble/Night & Day Challenge crowd would be excited to hear about an urban rogaine in such an awesome location, and would be the prime target for promotion.

We visited a number of sites today and was really impressed with the orienteering potential here iin Barbados. Don't suppose anyone is doing some mapping in a warm & sunny location?

Just try to avoid the bigger events, like in 2013 there are two world cup races in New Zealand. And 2014 will also have the 5 day in South Africa.

Jim, I just talked to Jaroslav Kacmarcik this afternoon (in Italy) and heard he had sent you some map material. Hope you can make good use of it!

Have just over 30 for a clinic and event on the 29th on the map sent by Jaroslav and made for Park World Tours. We 're doing a school mapping clinic this weekend and having some school maps made from Google which we hope to have time to field check. Everyone is very enthusiastic which is great to see.
