I will be leaving soon to race in the Botas Cup 5 days while at JWOC. When I get back I hope to talk about the maps, terrain, the country and my results. Why not everyone who is travelling post there adventures here.

Sounds good - you'll hear all about O-Ringen when I get back.
Joe, are you going to both Wyoming-Colorado and New Brunswick in August?

Got back last week after having a fine time in Czech. Quick report: weather sucked!! woods were fast!! Beer was boring!!
If you are wondering how the team did you can check the results on the website.
Long report: It rained everyday. Most days isolated periods. The day of the classic race (my day off) it poured.
We stayed in nice accommodations and ate very well. Transportation was by bus or van and the venues were fairly close.
While not attending to team meetings and the juniors needs Pavlina and I competed in the spectator races.
These woods, as it turned out, were very different than the classic, short final and relay woods (I only ran on the relay map). Not much detail, many trails and areas of pine reforestation. It was fast.
Day one both Pavlina and I were late for our starts. They had two different start locations and we failed to read the directors notes(Cz).
Regardless, we both had decent runs. To my surprise I was the fastest on my H35C course. Yeah, I wished to be in the H35B, but because of a foul-up at registration I ended up there. Pavlina was in third, but because of being 6 minutes late, was penalized and wound up 5th.
The races were held on the same hill with the same finish all 5 days. Terrain varied only once when we had some rock detail. Felt like home.
Some days were shorter than others so it helped to mix up the speed.
Days 2-4 were pretty much the same results for us and going into day 5 I was 4 minutes up and Pavlina 16 minutes down. She is actually not as fast as you might think.
We had a great time and would suggest that anyone looking for a orienteering vacation should consider JWOC. The juniors want/need support and besides the coaches, there were no other Americans at the races. They are a great group of young adults, show some interest in the future of orienteering in this Country and they will only benefit.
