The 15th International Conference on Orienteering Mapping (ICOM) is scheduled for the 13th and 16th of July 2012, in Lausanne, Switzerland. This will take place in conjunction with the World Orienteering Championships. If you are interested in this type of event and did not already know about it, here you go.
It is said that the conference has become quite a traditional event amongst mapmakers and those interested in maps from around the world. Attendees will discuss and share information about the latest mapping standards, techniques and developments in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The 15th ICOM will focus on Sprint mapping. In addition, there will be presentations on other topics of interest to the world’s community of orienteering mappers. The revision of the ISOM 2000 specification is undergoing, and will also be on the agenda.
The ICOM will be split in 2 sessions. Friday, July 13, from 4:00-9:00 PM is scheduled for the presentations and will take place indoors in the WOC hotel. Monday, July 16, from 6:00-9:00 PM will take place outside in a city location. The Monday session will focus on sprint mapping and course setting, and will be organized in cooperation with the IOF Foot Orienteering Commission.
Sprint maps are welcome for the discussion in the breaks and the general Map Exhibition. Maps can
be sent to:

Suggestions for both topics and presentations are very welcome. Please send your proposals to: IOF Map Commission, Flemming Hjorth Jensen (f_hjorth@c.dk) before 3 June 2012. If you are suggesting presentations, please specify both the title of the presentation, the presenter, and a brief
synopsis of the presentation.
The Friday conference will take place in Lausanne in the WOC hotel.

18:00 We meet somewhere in the town center.
18:00-21:00: Discussions while walking.
The program will be published on the IOF website when it is ready and on Sunday, 24 June at the
latest.
REGISTRATION AND FEES
The participation fee is 15 euros, which should be paid upon registration. The fee covers the conference cost and the coffee breaks. Registration deadline is Sunday 24th June 2012. Registrations should be sent by e-mail to the IOF.
