As some of you may know, I have been serving as an interim OUSA BOD member for the past few months filling out the term of Scott Drum who had to resign to care for his ailing father. Scott was the BOD person who was the liaison to the Teams. Last year the BOD renewed partial funding in the budget to support the Teams. It is VERY IMPORTANT that the Team's have a strong advocate is this position to insure that the funding continues and is increased in the years ahead. I do not intend to run for the permanent position at the AGM in Laramie in September and would like to know that Team's will have a strong supporter on the BOD.
Please let Glen Shorr or Peter Goodwin know if you are willing to serve.

Thanks,

Rick Worner

I am very sorry that Rick will not continue on the board. He was great to step up to the position when there was need but he and Linda have been on the board for many years and they are both working for our sport in other ways.
The board does need a strong advocate for the teams and someone who wants to become involved. If we got two advocates, so much the better!

Of course, it's not as if the rest of the Board members - and most obviously the Executive Director - aren't already committed to helping the teams! The increase in budget outlays proposed for the teams got unanimous support at the last budget go around, and as long as we have full-time staff working to keep the revenue base growing, I'd guess that just about 100% of the Board members support continued growth in the team budgets too.

It's still helpful to have as direct a liason as possible with the teams, so if there is a Board candidate (like Rick) who has a great understanding of the teams needs now and into the future, in addition to the other qualities sought (like the ability to stoically endure static on group teleconferences!), all the better.
