Discussion: links keyed into words

Normally, highlighted and underlined words in the text of discussion threads provide a quick link to something relevant to the discussion and the person posting to the discussion created the link. In the last few days though, I've noticed a number of "words" that are highlighted and underlined exactly the same as a legitiment link but, they don't have anything to do with the discussion. It almost seems as though some software looks at the text and than matches links with specific words. Is there some way to shut this off so that only the real links are highlighted and underlined?

Or, is this somehting that MY computer is doing?

For example, in this discussion thread
http://www.attackpoint.org/discussionthread.jsp/me...
there are four highlighted and underlined links but only one was created by someone responding/posting to the discussion. The others were generated someother way.

It's your computer - I only see one link in that thread, and that's to the video.

Hmm, I'm surprised to hear this is happening. It's not something I've added intentionally. is anyone else seeing it?

Can you send me a screenshot? It might be that you have some browser toolbar or add-in that is doing it. Sometimes those get installed in sneaky ways as part of other downloads.

Sounds like some sort of adware. I'd run an up-to-date adware/malware/spyware scan and a virus scan for good measure.

I do know of a few forums running similar programs (link advertising to keywords in posts) because they get paid to do so... but this site isn't one of them.

Text Enhance-----That must be it since the pop-ups all say that at the top. And, they don't seem to be affecting anyone else.
Ugh!

Thanks Uncle JiM. I'll go through some of the suggestions for getting rid of it.

Okay, it's gone---I think. I did several things but when I uninstalled wxDfast the problem went away. Of course it could have been related to some of the other tweaking but that was mostly trying to reestablish google as the default search instead of babalon which seemed to have forced it's way in.
