When I'm trying to transfer data from my 910 to AP it doesn't work. The "data import"-part is working fine, but then it just says "Transfer Complete, parsing..." and nothing happens. Someone else with the same problem? Someone who knows what's wrong? I'm using Chrome.

Based on the error log, it seems like some kind of internal problem in the Garmin plugin. It is hard to say exactly what is causing this.

Some things to try:
  • upgrade your plugin from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4.
  • if your 910 isn't new, you should try clearing out the older sessions.
  • sometimes there are problems with particular sessions. try recording a very short test session, and see if you can transfer only that one.
  • if you have a tcx file, try importing that directly. you can export tcx from Garmin Connect, or find them in your ant agent folder, something like c:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Devices\[number]\History\
  • if you have a tcx file, but it won't upload directly, email me a copy and I will take a look.
  • if you have a ton of files in your ant agent history folder, you can archive most of them to some other place.

Here is your error info, for reference:

JL, when you fix it, please go back to the other million threads on this topic and tell me how I can fix mine.

Why can't we see them then?

That's self evident I though.

I gave up on Garmin too because my 405 was a (expensive) lemon.

I keep a private log of thoughts. You'd be scared off the internet otherwise.

Leepback, contact me if you need help. I've had no problems with my 405.

So what's the not-very-competitive, not-digitally-competent orienteer's GPS/HRM of choice? My spouse is coveting my new Garmin 210W, which seems about a technologically challenging as we're capable of at this point. We've managed to download from it to AP, garmin connect. I'm looking for something equally simple for him, if there's something even more user friendly out there that doesn't have too many bells and whistles.

Hi Anne,
I just bought the 210 (without the W) för my daughter, but we haven´t had time to really test it yet. From the specifications on the web it seems it does just about everything we would need - and at a reasonable price. Hope it will keep what it has promised...

This guy does very thorough test of all kinds of watches and you can probably find other brands here under the Product Review tab.
And here´s another site for reviews... The Globalsat tested here is a relatively low priced watch that I bought for my son a couple of years ago and it seems to do the trick too.

The Forerunner 10 is a really simple, no frills GPS watch to consider. Buttons are similar to a regular watch.

And, second Bubo - dcrainmaker does great reviews. You can spend weeks catching up on stuff that isn't even available on the market anymore, just because they are interesting to read. Though, the whole "The Girl" reference (i.e., his wife) is a bit lame.

+1 for the Forerunner 10. All I need is a watch that keeps track of the time, distance, and route of my runs, and so far it has done that exceptionally well.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like we're going to be a 2-forerunner 210 family; The Man says heart rate monitor is "essential". Polar equivalent of the 210 is more $ and more complication.
