While not strictly orienteering, this has been sent to a few US clubs, and may be of interest:

I have a slightly odd request for you. My name is Richard Perkins and I work for a cartographic company called T-Kartor. We are originally a Swedish company - our HQ is still in Sweden - who began and evolved as an ever growing group of Orienteers. We still have strong links with the Scandinavian orienteering scene and are the major sponsor of the local club, Pan-Kristianstad http://www.pan-kristianstad.nu/ (although unfortunately the website is mostly in Swedish).

We have an American subsidiary and are currently involved in several major projects (one being BikeShare) in New York City. As part of that, we are currently looking for 2 field analysts, and previous experience around the world has shown us that orienteers generally make extremely good field analysts: we need people who enjoy being outdoors and exploring, are physically fit and durable, have excellent eye for detail and of course, know how to read a map!

As such, having done some googling (other internet search engines are available) for orienteering clubs in New York I have come across your club, and was wondering if you would have any ideas on how to publicise such a job or to pass it around amongst the NYC orienteering community, it would be greatly appreciated. It might be of particular interest to any unemployed orienteers in your club. All details can be found at www.t-kartor.com/careers

I appreciate that this is not your normal raison d'etre and you may not wish to help us. Any ideas or assistance that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
