I would like to organize a score-O orienteering event for an academic conference in Berlin (Germany) in July. Could anyone put me in touch with orienteers or a club in Berlin?

Thanks!

I'm from the wrong end of germany, so I don't know to many Berlin orienteers personally. But some helpful links:
This is a list of o-clubs around Berlin including adresses:
http://www.ol-in-berlin.de/vereine.html (I personally wouldn't try the last one on the list, but can recommmend the first 5 clubs on the list)
Or you can just write on this forum here, that's the german orienteering homepage:

The Germany sprint Championships are in Berlin in a month and a half. Might be a good club to talk to.

Here is the website for the event. http://www.ihwalex.de/dmsprint2013startseite

JWOC 1991 was in Berlin; the finish run-in in the long distance crossed where the Berlin Wall had been less than two years earlier. There's lots of forest in the Berlin area, even within the boundaries of the old West Berlin - fairly standard flattish continental terrain with lots of tracks and vegetation changes but not much detail. At least some of those forests should be easily accessible by public transport.

(The previous edition of the JWOC 1991 map - western side only, obviously - featured what could be described as the world's most uncrossable uncrossable fence on its boundary).

Of course, being pre ISSOM this could only have been "difficult to cross" rather than "forbidden to cross", but, if you happened to be running on that map in that era, ...well, your call.

Thanks for the ideas. I wrote to the people putting on the April sprint in the Tiergarten. Looks awesome. I hope it works out.
@mm-ha, thanks for the links. If I don't make progress with the sprint people I'll get a German speaking friend to help me make headway with the O-clubs.

Most of them should be able to speak english, so if you write to them in english that should be fine.
Let me know if you need some translation help - If I've time and am online (travelling a lot, so sometimes I'm offline for a while), I'll help.

I heard from the folks in Berlin! Thanks for the contact -
They said that they will work with us; they are quite busy of course until the sprint is over, but then they can focus on helping us. I do need to hear back from them enough information to be able to post the event on the conference website, so hopefully I'll get that minimum piece soon...
Thanks all!
