It seemed it would be a heat-tolerance festival. Was considering the drive if I could've raced it w/o melting.
Sounds like "Black" was just the right amount of evil... Was afraid it might be even worse (to the point of frustrating) but it seems they got the balance okay.
It is pretty much always hot (or thunderstorming) at the chase. Usually by this time of year I have been running outside a lot, but obviously I have been doing way more indoor training this season.
I was also hesitant about black, but yeah, it was just enough evil to be fun when combined with beverages. most of the legs were pretty normal.
Yes, I was initially quite averse to the black course, because I don't really like gimmicky events. I guess the beer chase is a bit gimmicky, but ultimately it is just a race, and I like that.
So, there wasn't really anything unfair about the black. Just basically annoyances, but nothing that would have injected too much unfairness or randomness into things. I could have done without the wrinkles, but they weren't too bad.
It was hot, and still. In the woods it was a little more pleasant, but in the few pieces of open, it was more sultry. But, it is what it is. I am definitely not acclimated to heat yet either, and I felt like crap. Clearly, the beer doesn't help!
