If training inside- Does anyone have any preferences or comments regarding the amount of time spent running uphill on a treadmill or sessions on the stairmaster (2000 to 3000 vertical feet per session).

I try to do combinations of both, but am I wasting my time on the stairmaster for the purpose of orienteering training.

I am not a pro on machine workouts, but from my experience, the eliptical trainers seem to be the best. They have the ability to work almost every muscle group in the legs, and they don't put any pounding on the knees like treadmills do. They are basically a combination of the stair master and the treadmill.
