Pretty much as expected, SVO smoked everyone at the US Club Relay Champs and kicked total ass, making it look as easy as Key Lime pie and cellophane flowers of yellow and green. When Brad Whitmore (sans Alpaca) came back with the leading teams on the first leg, with a smile on his face and nary a drop of sweat or even a minute salt sweat fleck in sight on his uniform, all other clubs could deduce it was going to be a long day for them and a short day for SVO. And that's the way it was. Mark Voit kicked into hyper drive somewhere about 100m after leaving the start, and after that the only signs any other runner saw of SVO were the occasional dust plumes and rooster tails of dirt the speedy SVOers were kicking up. By the time the 2nd place team finished, a half a day later or so, SVO had broken out the Marlboros and whiskey, and had chatted up all of the women and most of the she-bears within Park County, which is a really big county.

Congrats to SVO!

Um... for a minor reality check, BAOC—Jim "No! Wait!" Waite—was in the lead after Leg 2, possibly courtesy of said hyperdrive.

Unfortunately, power (and time) was in short supply at the CO 5-day (7 races in 5 days killed us!), so J-J and I were not able to get results together as soon as we'd have liked. Now, J-J's off at the US Canoe Orienteering Champs, so I'm not sure that results will be up until Thursday. Sorry!

While we are waiting for results, can anyone tell us who the top teams were in the relays? Congrats to SVO by the way.

SVO were so dominant they were all the top teams and most of the other teams as well. They ran like hungry badgers were hot on their trail.

And boy was I hungry, but not I guess as hungry as a badger...
