Discussion: uploading GPS track on RouteGadget

tried uploading GPS track on RouteGadget for the DVOA fall fest meet, but after selecting the GPX file and clicking the OK button, I see the message on the bottom of the window "waiting" and after 5-10 seconds "done" but the entire screen is white [the map is never displayed].

tried IE, Firefox, Chrome. Have the latest Java runtime installed.

One thing that may be causing it: a few clicks before, when getting to the site, there is a dialog box that opens alerting of a security risk, and one must check a checkbox and press ok. Maybe there is something like this silently (and non-visually) blocking the final page from displaying after the GPS file is uploaded.

Maybe the map is just open forest, did you think of that?

Did you also select format -> gpx?

yes. btw, tried the same on a different computer, different network, different location, same result.

this is the dialog box that first appears before the map is displayed when going to the site. Maybe the same is blocking the map from displaying after uploading the GPS file.

Don't think so - that dialog box is normal now for any Java runtime. Maybe the GPX track is corrupt - try and open it in in GPXeditor or something like that

here is how the GPXEditor screen looks like.

Note that there GPX file includes the tracks of both the saturday and sunday races.

That will probably be the reason, and you should create separate gpx files for the two events.

Success !! After using GPXEditor to delete one of the two tracks and saving it into a new GPX file, after uploading it into RouteGadget the map screen was displayed

thanks y'all fellas from all three continents, whatever timezone yinz are in right now...

I think this might have violated the time limit on RouteGadget - from memory it's about 11 hours, if you had routes from two days you probably broke that. :)

No problem - glad you worked it out!

It's funny because I was just eating Vegemite as I was reading your first response. We are so predictable.

For future use... sometimes if you click the + or - button for the map it will redraw and you will see it. Better to do the - as it will show more of the map/screen.
