That's pretty much what I said:
As serious injuries go, you couldn't pick up a better one, or a better time
You really don't want anyone to break a leg, but I think he was looking to be cheered up. Just hope he shares my sense of humour, along with none of the other people on the planet.

You're welcome to my recipe for a skinny leg - be careful what you wish for.

It's all relative. Compared to your hit and run injuries he's got a mild graze.

I'm sure you'd take a broken fibula over an odd muscle wasting problem any day graeme.

Life's not an either-or.
Anyone with a broken leg will be depressed, we shouldn't put him down (in any sense). Your recovery story is very life-affirming and should cheer him up. Write to him.

Assuming the guy turned his ankle running, the fibula broke because the ligaments exerted so much force on the bone that it fractured. There will inevitably be extensive damage to the ligaments, muscle and possibly cartilage. The bone will be the least of his worries in a couple of months.

My impression is he'd never bothered with physios before and had little knowledge what to do and who to ask. Glad to say he's a lot happier now he's got some ideas and successful recovery tales from nopesport and emails.
