WMTBOC Long Distance Qualification System Under Revision
The IOF is currently revising the qualification system for the World MTB Orienteering Championship Long distance final. For more details regarding the proposed model, please see the
full description.
National federations are asked to submit comments on the proposed system by February 23, 2014.
Australia already submitted its comments before they changed it last time.
I like the comment '...the old system does not allow...'
You mean that system that's been in place for one year?
I think its an improvement. However the mentality of giving the top 10 in the previous years Sprint final a place in the Long Final the following year completely escapes me. What is the point in separate disciplines if there is that much crossover?
I also agree it's an improvement but O-ing, I think you'll find it's the top (other than those already qualified) in the current year's sprint final. So effectively they've replaced the long qualification race with two qualification races, being the sprint and middle. It means you get to prove yourself whilst at ths current year's comp.
