The Junior Team Selections Committee is pleased to announce the team that will represent the USA at the 2014 Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) in Bulgaria, in July.

The Committee would like to congratulate all juniors who tried out for the JWOC Team. The efforts and improvements of every junior who went for it are huge, and have started to build a more competitive culture in the USA junior orienteering program. Notably, all 16 athletes are members of the Junior Standing Team, and have been training for months under the guidance of the National Junior Coach. The Committee would like to congratulate the juniors for their hard work that has led to success. They have set the tone for years to come.

There are 3.5 months until JWOC. The Selections Committee expects all junior athletes to continue training hard, and smart. The Committee encourages all Juniors on the standing team who were not named to JWOC to travel to Europe for training and racing to increase their experience level. Thank you all for your hard work, time, and commitment!

Yes, congratulations to all.

I watched the results of the qualifying races and I can imagine that the final scoring must have been VERY tight.

Congratulations to all who made the team, and also to the alternates and those who were near-runner ups. There are many possible candidates who could have made the team, or might have made it if the scoring system had been slightly different. The JTESC, Coach, and selection committeee are to be applauded for their efforts to make selection fair and unbiased. We have a great group of highly competitive juniors, and it is exciting to see so many of you driving each other forward.

Congratulations O-USA on your team and on the depth of your selection pool. That's great work by your committee, coach and by everyone locally who has pointed the young talent toward the national junior squad.

We hope, moving forward, that it is harder and harder to make the team. This year's team has worked hard and those who didn't make it probably would have made it in previous years. Looks like a great team and those who didn't make it, keep trying. If you "aged out" and are in college or university, go for the WUOC team now or in the future.
