Carbon Offset's log, June 8:
Showed up completely ready to set the Fastest Known Time for The Triple Crown of Canmore. Was planning to do it alone but Nicki found out about my plan and insisted on coming. She even showed up at my house to pick me up, so there was no escaping. I was trying to get ready earlier so that I could leave on my own, when she pulled up to my garage. Awkward.....
Still had the plan in the back of my mind that I would find a way to ditch her and do it on my own, but once we got to Canmore there were 3 other people there who wanted to come along. Ugh.... Kiss my solitude goodbye. I decided to kiss my FKT attempt goodbye too and just played along like I was having a good time, turned the day into a reconnaissance outing, and will return tomorrow to do the FKT.
I felt I could have done the day in 2.5 hours but all of Nicki's farfing (sp?) turned it into a 23 hour day. Worst off all, she wouldn't play along and get in on all of the jumping photos I wanted to do. Not that I would have wanted to take photos of that pouty face. She's always so grumpy. Why does she even come along on these outings if she already knows she doesn't enjoy the mountains? Tomorrow will be a little tougher with trying to do selfie jump photos. That'll probably bump my time up to 2:35...
