Discussion: Mapping all your runs

When you upload your gpx file to AP after a run, you route can be viewed by the little world icon beside your session.

I was wondering how possible it would be for Attackpoint to keep all of these files, and then somehow the user could access a map which displayed all of the uploaded gpx files on 1 world map, so you could see every run you've ever uploaded, and see all the different places you've run.
Alternatively, you could maybe set it to a certain area (i.e. a city, or country), and see all of the places you've run within that area.

Going further you could probably create a heat map which showed a different colour for each location dependent on how many times you have run there - if you've run there lots it might be red, and only once it might be blue, or whatever.

I should probably be posting this in the suggestions box for AP, but I'm mainly wondering how realistic it would be, because the suggestion box takes a long time to get through...

That's a start, but attackpoint needs heatmaps, a la strava heatmaps. Given the collection of nerds around here, I'm sure there's someone who has an idea of how to make attackpoint density maps way cooler than just a heatmap. Anyone?

also, some guy already wrote a thing that lets you put your own data onto a map, but it links to strava to pull data. Probably wouldn't be too hard to link to AP data instead, if you had the skillz...

Nice feature which I wouldn't have noticed without this thread.

Would be nice though to let also others to see my map (and also for me too see others). Now I think it's not possible? This could be done maybe through "Edit Permissions" page.

The plan is to eventually let others see stuff on your map based on the permission setting for each session. But I need to make some big changes to the index first in order to support that.

I like it, Would be good to have a date range and the actual traces for that period.
