This is a new map for QOC that Jon Torrance has worked hard making. In addition to a lot of field checking work, LIDAR and GPS were used a lot in the process thus giving good ground tracking correlation for those who race with a GPS.

For those familiar with Fair Hill State Park in northern MD, Rosaryville State Park shares some similarities. First, there are lots of trails which horses and cyclists have created. These trails tend to wander or contour and intersect a lot.

Due to the apparent harvesting of plots and subsequent forest succession, the woods have a full mix of vegetation from fast open to thick green (thick parts can be encountered more often at field edges). The vegetation has been carefully mapped with a lot of detail. Where the woods are not runnable, there is generally a nearby trail going through them.

Like nearly everything else, Rosaryville is smaller than Fair Hill but it still has a big feeling when running through it; it's about 1.6 miles x 1.5 miles in area. The fields are proportionately smaller than the ones in Fair Hill. There are horse jumps in the fields, but few fences.

There are several areas with man made ground features. Stream crossings tend to be gullied. Hills are sometimes steep but overall they create modest to average climbs.

Route choice here is important. Come and enjoy it.
