Challenge yourself in a brand new way at the inaugural Forest X! This race is like a choose-your-own-adventure, in a rugged outdoor setting. Runners follow a marked route, visiting checkpoints along the way, and whoever completes the course fastest is the winner. The twist is that you're allowed to take shortcuts between the checkpoints! The marked route will get you there, but the way may be circuitous. If you're brave enough to cut some corners, you might outsmart your competitors!

All runners are provided with a detailed orienteering map at the start. This has the location of the checkpoints, as well as the marked route. You can just tuck this in your pocket and follow the markings, or you can use the map to take strategic short cuts.

The start is at 9:00. Short course (1 lap) and long course (2 laps) start at the same time. Long course runners must complete the first lap in 1.5 hours, or they won't be allowed to start the second lap.

Short course: Roughly 5k
Long course: Roughly 10k

We've designed the course so that a fast trail runner who strictly follows the route will be at a slight disadvantage to someone who takes the shortcuts.
