After more failed attempts to dig something out of my leg last night, went to the doctor today. She thought the main problem was more likely some kind of bleeding in the muscle (?) which kind of makes sense with the kind of pain I was getting. I was pretty sure at the time that there was something in there though but she said if there is it's probably small and should come out on its own. Still quite painful in a very localised area of the calf so no running for at least a couple of days, hopefully by the weekend I might be able to either try running or cross training.

Staying at a friend's summer house on the west coast which was conveniently really close to an amazing sand dune area. Was having a quality time for the first half but then get a really sharp pain in my calf. Thought there was a bit of stick (or maybe a piece of that spiky grass) in there so tried my best to dig it out but couldn't. Was at the furthest away point from home and no way of getting picked up so just had to slog my way back.

Pretty easy stuff, ran the first section quite hard but then very much cruised the last part because it was some of the easiest orienteering I've ever seen in my life.

Knock out semi. Really pissed off with myself with this but good learning experience. Sat too far back from the start then had a chance to pull a ralph but didn't (had planned on taking a different route to the others with about 3 controls to go but illogically ended up just following them even though I was coming 4th at the time and top 3 go through). Just as I tried to put in a final effort to catch Jakob I stacked, not sure what's going on with my luck atm.
