Race Evaluation

WCOC Osbornedale State Park: Red

GlenT

1. Hesitated when I didn't see the bag at first until a gust of wind revealed its location.
2. North of the pond and got caught up briefly in vegetation just after leaving the road. Then up and over.
3. Trails in the fields out to the road, through the parking lot and attacked of the east end of the field. Got too low along the steep hill and had to climb back up to the cliff.
4. NE across the big reentrant and then down the east side. Bag was much lower than I expected it.
5. Took roads to the left of the green area, cutting in just north of the dark green. Then climbed right by control 9 on the way. There was 100m of climb on this leg (not counting the fact that control 4 may have been a bit further down the hill than what I had circled).
6. S around the hilltop to avoid about 2 contours of climb. Passed control 10 and attacked off the rocky spur MW of the control.
7. Up (again) to the trail on top of the ridge, NW on the trail to the stone wall, then N to the end of the next stone wall , through the gap in the vegetation and along the hill to the reentrant. Bag somewhat higher in the reentrant than where I had circled.
8. WSW across the stream to the trail, to the junction and up to the saddle and in from there (though not real cleanly).
9. Hd been here before so used the green to guide me in as I climbed up through the rocks.
10. Things were pretty familiar going in to this one. :-)
11. Stayed above the vertical green and cut down to the parking lot along the field edge. Off the end of the lower parking lot.
12. Passed through the pavillion and took the opportunity to thank the course setters for their thoughtfulness to have included so much climb.
13. Straight. Almost dropped too low.
F. Through the fields left of the beeline. Thanks Rich and Jim for an interesting course.
