Race Evaluation

West Point A-Meet: Red-1

dlevine

1. Tentative, but solid. First A meet leg in over 18 months...
2. Contour...
3. Went down a bit low (near lake), but found it fine.
4. A large clump of (green?) runners going past it and on up the hill
5. NE past ride and south of swamp to trail, then in off the clearing
6. Took road to north and followed a blue runner in
7. Saw it the moment I cleared the reentrant; couldn't believe I lost sight of the guy in front of me until I realized he was on another course.
8. +02:30Road around, but cut in low and had to go through thick stuff. First noticeable error
9. Downhill following woman I punched with at #8.
10. North of swamp, past hill and spiked it.
11. +11:00Left heading too far SW. Crossed little swamp and then climbed hill south of bigger swamp. Descended through cliffs, including dropping compass. Then got confused when I hit the line of cliffs along the north line just east of control. Terrain went down, but I had already descended cliffs? After wandering around too long, I bailed out to the ride, and then it was easy.
12. Angry, but careful contouring.
13. +00:15Okay, but the hill was high and I stopped too soon. Also neglected to punch because it wasn't my control and lost fifteen seconds before realizing that I read the wrong control description.
14. Determined to catch the people I was with at the previous control...
