Race Evaluation

UNO Boulder Dash: Red day 1

Cristina

1. Used the first leg to check out the routes to the second one. Didn't make up my mind right away.
2. +01:00Decided to go left to evaluate the rough open. Got to the area and it looked passable enough, so I took the "short cut". It was very slow. Not very happy with the choice. Attacked the control from the trail junction, no problems there.
3. Stayed just right of the swamp and again attacked from the trail, up the reentrant. Feeling more confident, but I could have moved faster.
4. +01:00Didn't intend to go all the way up to the trail, but the contours were deceiving. Also, better AP - still dorked it up, went to far down the trail before cutting in. Makes sense on the these to cut in a bit earlier and parallel.
5. Picked the trail route to the left. The huge features leading into the control from that side made it easier, but again I could have been more aggressive.
6. Aimed off of the field, could have had a better rough compass/straight line.
7. Straight up the road, no issues.
8. Up the trails then up the reentrant. Pace as a backup. Could have cut the corner here a bit more - slogging uphill anyway.
9. Did not have an instant idea of where to go. Tumbled down the hill to the trail, attacked from the junction, but it was a bit far to be solid. Sort of stumbled into it.
10. +01:00Again, no good idea for execution. Went around the green, which doesn't make much sense for a straight route. Considered going around once at the trail, and in retrospect that would have been better. As it was I had to stop and read way too often.
11. +01:00Just a straight shot, but got suckered off by another control. Low point of the course, luckily there wasn't too much left to bunk up.
12. +00:30Out the trail and then careful across the swamp, aiming left to contour across the hill. Didn't think I had a great idea of where I was once I got there and went by it.
13. Just a trail run but really low on energy at this point. Hard to even run.
