1. | In the interest of full disclosure - I did not complete the entire course - went to #93, then cut down to #168. When I enteredd my splits with just the cutover time between these controls, it made it look like I'd blazed thru that center section (which I hadn't). Arbitrarily added 2 hours to the cutover time, which made things look a lot more realistic on the graph...
2. | Lower back is bothering me, too much slining gear around yesterday. Camelbak with 2 liters of water seems to be making it worse.
3. | +01:00 | Got too far left and saw the larger marsh. Relocated quickly, but need to settle down. If I keep on making stupid mistakes, it will be a long day.
4. | See Rick DeWitt for the 1st time, see him multiple times later.
5. | +00:45 | Went due north out of the control into the brroader reentrant with the trail, realized my mistake and cut back right. Lead Rick into it.
6. | +00:20 | Over run a bit - I'm look at the veg boundary with the small pines on my right, instead of the large pines on the left.
7. | |||||||

14. | |||||||
15. | |||||||
16. | |||||||
17. | +01:00 | With Greg Walker, off to the rightand wandering around the small marsh ENE of the "uncrossable" marsh, he recovers quicker than I do, I still think I'm in the right spot even though there's no control...
18. | |||||||
19. | |||||||
20. | +04:00 | Too far right, get too low and flounder around for a while.
21. | |||||||
22. | |||||||
23. | |||||||
24. | |||||||
25. | |||||||
26. | |||||||
27. | See train of Ross, Wil, Joe coming into the control, they head out south to the trail, I opt to for a more direct line and get to the waterstop first.
28. | Lot's of company at the waterstop, see Rick DeWitt again
29. | Try following the train - keep up for a few controls and even do respectably on some of the legs in relation to them....
30. | |||||||
31. | 2d in the train up the hill, this won't last long...
32. | |||||||
33. | |||||||
34. | Mike Waddington comes chugging by - lose sight of him within 3 controls
35. | train disappears into the distance, try to maintain contact with Daniel Schaublin
36. | |||||||
37. | |||||||
38. | |||||||
39. | |||||||
40. | Was here yesterday on the recreational Red course - doesn't look familiar though. Back up with Daniel and Ross, they must have had some problems
41. | |||||||
42. | |||||||
43. | |||||||
44. | |||||||
45. | Still just behind Ross, leading Daniel around the end of the marsh
46. | |||||||
47. | |||||||
48. | Ross and Daniel go up and over the hill, I go around to the right to save a contour - didn't work..
49. | |||||||
50. | |||||||
51. | |||||||
52. | Down first Clif Shot - cramping up a bit in my legs
53. | |||||||
54. | |||||||
55. | See Ernst coming in - we were supposed to have the grill going and be cooking at 11:30, wonder if he'll make it back in time to do that??
56. | |||||||
57. | |||||||
58. | |||||||
59. | |||||||
60. | Ernst is pulling away
61. | |||||||
62. | |||||||
63. | |||||||
64. | |||||||
65. | |||||||
66. | Try going along the top of the cliff, get hung up in a lot of think stuff.
67. | |||||||
68. | +01:00 | Spend some time loking around the boulders in the saddle halfway between 67 & 68.
69. | |||||||
70. | |||||||
71. | Legs cramping up going up the hill, back is bothering me more.
72. | Cool! Approach from up top, reach down and pull up the control and punch with my foot.
73. | |||||||
74. | |||||||
75. | |||||||
76. | |||||||
77. | |||||||
78. | Concerned about this one. tried beelining, should have gone along dotted marsh on right, then approached from rock face and boulder. Find the control-in-the-woods in spite of myself.
79. | More cramping. Water level in camelbak seems to be holding up. Wonder how far I'll be able to go. Start looking at cutover points.
80. | |||||||
81. | Train with Randy and Nadim catches up to me, hang with them for a while
82. | |||||||
83. | |||||||
84. | |||||||
85. | decide to go to at least the large boulder at 90 before I cut over
