Rocky Mountain 1000 Day: Green Day 3

Anna

1. Hesitated
+01:00
Hesitated a lot, eventually saw knolls and went left to veggie boundaries. Saw knolls and went to my control.
2. +00:20Bearing to veggie boundary, checked off knolls.
3. Bad route choice
Hesitated
+03:00
Went on the spur instead of to the aspens and the field, which is what I should've done. Could've used boulders or vegetation for my attack point. Hesitated.
4. Bad map reading
Bad compass work
Apparently didn't check my compass. Went all the way down to the right to a rocky knoll. Was about to relocate when I saw my control way up on the other side of the field.
5. Used rock features to cross the stream where I wanted. Read ahead a little. Saw knolls before, cut in when I saw the big rocks.
6. Took bearing down spur to left of rocks, went through white marshy area instead of green. Checked off boulder, planned #7, found the rocks.
7. Took compass to white rocky knoll, to right of green, to blue "V," through field, up hill to rocks.
8. Hesitated
+00:30
Hesitated. Used rocks in reentrants to come in, read reentrant.
9. Bad map reading
Bad compass work
Bad distance judgement
+00:25
Went up reentrant but missed my turn into the field. Went into the little one first, then got into the one I wanted.
10. Bad compass work
+05:00
Went around the rocks to the field and avoided the reentrant. Checked off rock features, then went horribly the wrong way since I didn't follow my compass. Decided to look for the big field, eventually found it and followed reentrant to control.
11. Bad route choice
Did not plan ahead
+00:30
Went around the rocks in the field to the right, came all the way back left to the tip of the light green. Followed the knolls in from there.
12. Bearing to the aspens.
13. Through the saddle to the first aspens, down the reentrant to the boulder.
14.
F. Ran harder than usual in the finish chute.
