Road running 39:00 [3] 4.8 mi (8:07 / mi)

Feeling shit. Tired and miserable. So the hearty faceful of hail 5mins in was actually quite a welcome refresher.

Trail running 38:05 [3] 4.8 mi (7:56 / mi)

Stopped to talk to Wilma, who I bumped into. He was RUNNING. I didn't realise he still knew how. I also saw Carrie out training too. Not so surprising.

My calves aren't happy. The rest of me is though so sod them.

Trail running 37:10 [3] 4.8 mi (7:45 / mi)

Foot v sore for the first 2 mins again. It is getting better in the mornings though, even though I haven't been wearing my night splint at night as trying to sleep with a splint on and scabby knees is too tricky.

Trail running 36:00 [3] 4.8 mi (7:30 / mi)

Weary legs at first but they got into it. Back via the shop to get some paracetamol. Inflamed sinuses.

Road running 32:45 [3] 4.8 mi (6:49 / mi)
slept:6.0

Lucy is killing me slowly by sleep deprivation...

I was going to go for a jog, but this bloke overtook me at the start, then kept checking over his shoulder to see if I was keeping up - so I made sure I was! What fun. It killed him more than it killed me, and I passed him after 2 miles. Felt ok but lots of coughing after.

A massive PB, but I rarely race this one anyway. Made up a bit for the dissappointment of missing out on a flat we were bidding on. A bit sad, but relieved to avoid the hassle of moving in the run up to WOC. I am going to be knackered for this evening's staggering around in the dark at Touch.

Road running 37:54 [3] 4.8 mi (7:54 / mi)

Road running 35:04 [3] 4.81 mi (7:17 / mi)
slept:8.0

I was going to have a rest day but after a morning of struggling to compose myself at work, a lunchtime run was required. I had to stop at half way for a 15min sit down in a nice bit of forest, taking some deep breaths, then ran back at 6:45 pace.

1 PM

Road running 36:08 [3] 4.8 mi (7:32 / mi)

Longer canal run. 16 years ago today was my hit and run, which makes me even more grateful for today's pain-free run.

12 PM

Road running 34:54 [3] 4.81 mi (7:15 / mi)

Working in financial services in Edinburgh at the time of this referrendum is pretty stressful. Our contingency planning seems to involve leasing office premises in Dorking. But betfair have paid out on a No victory apparently. The continual chat is draining though, so made for a faster than planned lunchtime 'jog'.

1 PM

Road running 38:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:27 / mi)

Longer canal route, with a bit of walking when I felt like it. It was hot and muggy, which was making me feel lethargic. I am definately through the post-WOC exhaustion now, and am looking forward to the lazy few weeks we have planned at BUBO and OO.

12 PM

Road running 36:30 [3] 4.8 mi (7:36 / mi)

I was feeling tired and shitty at work, so didn't think I'd have much energy, but this felt better than I thought it would. Long canal loop. It was supposed to have been slower, but I felt good so went with the flow.

1 PM

Road running 37:59 [3] 4.82 mi (7:53 / mi)

Felt shocking. Canal loop. Felt slightly better the further I went. Achilles slightly sore.

Road running 38:00 [3] 4.8 mi (7:55 / mi)
slept:8.5

Canal run. I scratched my eye on Saturday half way around. It is still really sore. Dr Rollins gave me 50mg diclofenac and some 8mg cocodamol last weekend. I raided my own 30mg cocodamol supply this morning as well as the diclofenac. All of which has left me feeling really quite gah. Legs like cotton wool. Head like cotton wool. Generally a bit out of it. On the plus side, I could get hit by a bus today and not notice.

Road running 38:54 [3] 4.8 mi (8:06 / mi)
slept:7.5

After 37 years of constant battering, can my body survive a 38th one? Lets hope so. The first run of my 38th year went well. Just seeing where the land lies today. Legs feeling ok. First Tarmac run for a few weeks and no pain, just slight stiffness afterwards. New medication. Really bad stomach ache.

Road running 36:52 [3] 4.8 mi (7:41 / mi)
slept:7.5

A disasterous morning meant titting about doing mother things in the horrible weather and waiting in shorts in the rain for a bus to work rather than running. Got out this lunchtime. Feeling quite flat, not at all bouncy. Think the weekend took a lot out of me. It was quite draining. Injuries ok though.

12 PM

Road running 37:25 [3] 4.8 mi (7:48 / mi)
slept:5.5

Longer canal run. This was supposed to be easy but easy runs just aren't happening this week. Insomnia too. Not helped by Lucy up at 2 and 4.

Road running 36:59 [3] 4.8 mi (7:42 / mi)
slept:7.0

Late night last night but what I was working on will be useful for the selection races.

Minging weather here in Edinburgh. Incentive to go running? Wearing business smart for a meeting this morning. Got business casual in my draw at work. A run is a good excuse to get out of my suit.

Felt good, strong and fresh, but keeping it steady on purpose. I woke with a locked knee last night. It has been stiff when kneeling over the past few days - I try not to kneel, but when I am dressing Lucy it is a bit unavoidable. Again a bit of a concern, but maybe it is a delayed Devilla effect. I am going to plough on through the weekend and put the brakes on after that. Calf fine, achilles ok. The sore bit on my foot might be a bit bruised, so hopefully I have just dropped something on it without remembering. Shit for brains, as ever.

Skipped the fwtn. Achilles needs a night off. See I can be sensible when when I want.

Road running 34:02 [3] 7.5 km (4:32 / km)
ahr:145 slept:6.5

The longer canal run. Same as last Friday. Stopped every 10 mins for 30secs ninja walking. Calf was good, but achillies was a bit sore. I was going faster than I ought to have been, and the hard surface didn't help. I walked the last 400m or so. At least the dry needling seems to have had some effect. It was so painful.

Longer canal run from work. Going ok.calf gradually tightened throughout the run, but eased off completely in the 30secs I stopped to faff around with my iPod. Achillies sore initially but eased off completely after the first couple of mins. First road run for ages!
