After JK/Lakes weekend, should have waited longer before training. Legs felt very heavy for 2-3 weeks, but ran a little anyway, and picked up a calf strain.
4/30 Calf tight.
5/1-2 Took it easy and stretched.
5/3 Orienteering. Still very tight.
5/4-8 Five days of rest.
5/9 Felt fine. Ran JB race. Fine during race but very sore afterwards. Now a full-blown strain.
5/10 Didn't hurt to run, so ran sprint race OK.
5/11-15 Five more days of rest. Not getting better. Calf muscle won't relax.
5/16 Appointment with sports physio. Cross-friction massage. Incredibly painful, but felt looser afterwards.
5/17 Ran sprint race. Still a bit sore, but the massage was the miracle cure.
5/19 Soreness almost gone.
Cause: too many races. Rest was going nowhere. Deep massage (v painful) was key to fixing it.
