Got a Garmin accelerometer footpod thing to play with. Looks like it would fit in a Nike+ hole if I had shoes like that. This is really for indoors, but it does also give you cadence which is slightly interesting. You can see (in the data view) that mine is relatively consistent.

Note

assuming WRE GPS rules will be in effect next weekend, I scored a data logger to play with. wasn't sure which to get, didn't really want to deal with replacing batteries or special software. the i-gotU needs its own software, but at least seems small, easy to carry (maybe on HRM strap?), and charges via usb. accuracy TBD.

Note

here is the i-gotU track from the run. it's definitely not as accurate as the garmin (405 in this case), but that could be because of where I was carrying it on my HRM strap in the middle of my back. it does attach nicely and I couldn't even tell it was there, so that might just be good enough considering how infrequently I will need it.
