Jukola leg 2, "12.7k" quickroute (with forks), rg, splits.
(sunset:10:48p, dusk:12:39a, dawn:2:03a, sunrise:3:54a, me:12:04-1:49a)

An ok run, slower than expected, but maybe a little better than I had immediately thought. I was somewhat nervous beforehand, and it was cloudy and southern enough that the forest was sufficiently dark except in the open parts. I ran cautiously, though not especially smoothly or confidently, and made a bunch of small-ish errors. Some of the climbs were steep, but besides that I didn't really feel tired. Consumed caffeinated GUs at the usual rate. The magicshine light held up well, this was my first time running with the extension cable, definitely better. I had it on medium a lot of the time, since the extra brightness was often wasted on nearby green stuff. old battery harness is a little too big for the new battery, but works.

,2: running with a posse, found wrong controls first. track looks good but I didn't always know where I was going.
good, solid attack point, passed some people who cut in earlier and wandered
 straight, posse
some marked route, then parallel error attacking around wrong cliff (with people going to other fork). lost ~75s
 good attack
mostly good, checked wrong hilltop first for some reason. lost 20s
 hill, slow
good, almost went around more on the trail, but some dudes were going straight to the other 8, so I went that way. feeling more confident with the navigation
, 11: good, small posse
 easy, water stop
muddy trail, then found wrong control first, confused until the next field. lost maybe 1-2min?
,15,16: short, good. vaguely remember these being fun.
long route choice, not feeling confident enough to go straight, though I probably should have. was alone going around, and then messed up at the control for 2 mins. not sure if my planned route was slower, maybe a minute?
short, followed trail for a little to attack from the junction, though it was not obvious, so I cut up from where I thought it should be.
started off chasing some dude, then misidentified marshes, lost the trail and got hilltops confused. wandered a little and relocated on the trail bend. maybe 2 minutes lost? down 32 places from 16-20, though it looks like those places are only 2.5 mins...lots of people messing up.
 good, followed hilltop.
 good, short
mostly marked. I think the map was a little distorted here, it looked like the official gps tracking was off too.
to the trail, then easy attack
junky hillside, then lots of trails, followed posse.
good (mine was the first fork)
 easy
almost fell over a cliff on the way down the small trail. but all good
 done!

So, all together maybe like 6-7 mins of mistakes, and maybe could have run faster as well. Not really satisfied with that, but it was at least good enough not to detract from enjoying the rest of the event. and it seemed universally agreed that Jukola is fun, but instantly much more fun after you've gotten the serious part (your run) out of the way.
