Trail running 49:33 [3] 4.38 mi (11:19 / mi)

Nice early afternoon tea at Prestonfield House then slobbing infront of Hot Fuzz* all afternoon so needed some exercise. Around the seat. The hip thing I damaged last Wednesday is still not great. I am depressingly slow too. It was nice to get out though.

*the kids favourite film although Eurovision: the Story of Fire Saga might supersede it. It was so fantastically good, if you like a load of low-brow nonsense and some catchy tunes.

Cycle 1:50:41 [3] 20.29 mi (5:27 / mi)

Loz and Ray ran black rock 5 as part of the HBT GP, then we sunned ourselves in my parents garden before Loz and I cycled home. I haven’t been on my bike for ages, and it showed on the hills. No quad strength.

Allermuir Gallop, HBT Grand Prix 2020. 11 o’clock race

Unbelievably exhausted and still with a dodgy hip this was never going to be fast, but Megan W had run the 10am race so joined in with me as a warm down, hence a lovely chatty pace.

HBT GP is a month long race-fest. How many races can you do in a month, with extra points for being social etc. with no races the GP this year is just emailing everyone saying you are doing x race at y time of day, does anyone want to join in, and you get extra points for the number of other trots you run with. So today we ran the Allermuir gallop, main field set off at 10, a split start mum’s group at 11, about 15 turned up, great fun. I think we should do this every year.

Orienteering - training 36:44 [3] 4.06 mi (9:03 / mi)

Lots of grim weather, and no sleep last night, and the plumber rather taking over the house, and the baby being out of sorts and crying lots meant that L&L spent the day looking at screens and I was grappling with the baby with major head fog. I was glad to get out to the sprintelope after. I had no excuses really as the course finishes outside my front door. The course was more interesting than expected, though I missed 7(?) as I didn’t go far enough. I was running until I heard the ping really, and got a ping but it was a text. I took 8 and 9 in the wrong order anyway so would have been disqualified.

Orienteering - training 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Then went out shadowing Lucy. Feeling very much like Judy Bell / Jane Carcas shadowing Rachel / Pippa. I had to do her shoelace up at the start and could barely reach it I was so crocked, then we got to the start and she shot off, and I realised that I seemed to have pulled something in my hip and could barely run. I caught her enough to hand her the phone (the GPS looks like she shinned an illegal fence but she didn’t) then sort of hobbled around taking short cuts to keep up. I was tempted to take the illegal cemetery wall option to the finish and let her run around the roads to the Finish but she really does need shadowing on the roads as she is quite scatty so dug in. Ouch!
