Orienteering - race 39:50 [3] 4.11 mi (9:42 / mi)

Winterlope on Braids

The course wasn’t far enough so I took in quite a bit more distance than was strictly optimal. Lovely night when I finally got running. Shame I’d been stuck inside all day with work hell.

Road running 27:45 [3] 3.22 mi (8:37 / mi)

Back to Meggetland. Rugby is back on. Chatted to one of the other parents for ages then set off on my run. Up to craiglockhart from the canal, round the back of the southern one then back past Myreside to the canal. Nice night for it. Shame not to get running in the daylight but a ffs day at work stopped that alas.

Off-road running 1:01:00 [3] 4.6 mi (13:16 / mi) +600m 9:26 / mi

Lucy is back to school today - yay! Laurence is not - boo! I have loads of holiday to use up so took the day off and we went up Carnethy from flotterstone. He was obviously skipping up as I was suffering.
11 AM

Off-road running 1:08:00 [3] 4.5 mi (15:07 / mi) +700m 10:11 / mi

Another stage of the HBT v Carnethy challenge is run up Caerketton, back down then run it again faster. Yay! Laurence could not be convinced to leave the car. It was a bit brutal but I walked a lot of the first one (25:58) and the second one was much quicker as I ran bits (20:40). Killer though. Legs dead now.

Note

Hmm. Things aren't getting much better here hence no running. Did walk a lap of the seat and then drove out to Corstorphine to chaperone Cat around the Green course.

Note
(rest day)

Bubble weekend so we joined the Mowbray’s in cycling to Corstophine to do the map run courses, meeting the Rathjens there. Kids loved Kaimes Road, and when we got there we split into Mairi, Lucy and Eilidh on orange, Jon and Sandra on the old green course, Laurence, Calum and me going around together on the new green and Freya shadowed by Megan on the new green too.

Lots of fun. Bit of jogging to keep warm but not too much as o was trying to teach Calum how to navigate. We kept getting caught up by Freya who is getting much better every time she goes out. Twice this week for Laurence and Freya as they did the night o on Thursday too. The younger girls did well on quite a tricky orange.

Then picnic and home before we froze completely.

Lamenting my lack of exercise but too tired from lack of sleep, and busy at work, and busy with childcare. Hard to find the spare time and energy coinciding.
