Road running 31:03 [3] 3.7 mi (8:23 / mi)

Run with some efforts. I haven’t been doing intervals as with my current state of tiredness it is one more thing that I don’t really have the energy for. This felt ok though, even though I had worries about tight calves beforehand.

In night o news, someone has actually managed to complete the whinny hill long course (first person to finish from 10 starters)! Might have to go and have yet another look today to see where it is possible to get through the impenetrable gorse.

Road running 1:09:00 [3] 8.08 mi (8:32 / mi)

Run with Loz. Up through Pollock, down the innocent railway to Duddingston, up the steps to Dunsapie, down to the ice cream van where we stopped as he was feeling ‘weak’. Had an ice cream while chatting to Jamjar and wife, then Calton Hill, Esplanade and home via the meadows. Nice outing with lots of stopping for photos. I felt really shit though. Not sure when I’ll start to feel less shit on a run - if ever again. Maybe this is old age. Or not getting more than 5 hours broken sleep a night. Or not doing any core / speed work / stretching. Or not getting any downtime whatsoever just now.

Orienteering - race 51:00 [3] 4.6 mi (11:05 / mi)

Whinny Hill FWTN

Nobody likes a spoiler, so with the course still live until next Wednesday night I’ll just say that I thought to set up a course in maprun the planner had to physically go to each control site. Now I see that’s clearly not the case. Fun course for the most part though.

Trail running 56:07 [3] 6.22 mi (9:01 / mi)

Another lovely sunny day. Laurence had his 4 hours a week of schooling today so Ray and I were free from childcare for the first time in a year. So we headed out over the fields to Braids, past the van and on to Mortonhall, checking out my mistake at 3 from last night in the daylight. Back via 2, 11 then down the Howe and up to the observatory and home.

Lovely to get out but I felt knackered. It felt quite hilly too, but that might have been my lack of fitness.

Orienteering - race 39:50 [3] 4.11 mi (9:42 / mi)

Winterlope on Braids

The course wasn’t far enough so I took in quite a bit more distance than was strictly optimal. Lovely night when I finally got running. Shame I’d been stuck inside all day with work hell.

Road running 27:45 [3] 3.22 mi (8:37 / mi)

Back to Meggetland. Rugby is back on. Chatted to one of the other parents for ages then set off on my run. Up to craiglockhart from the canal, round the back of the southern one then back past Myreside to the canal. Nice night for it. Shame not to get running in the daylight but a ffs day at work stopped that alas.
